Shorewood lawyer chooses jail over probation for spitting on Black teen.
Stephanie Rapkin, a Shorewood lawyer convicted of a misdemeanor after spitting on a Black teenager during a racial justice protest in 2020, rejected the judge's sentence of a year of probation and 100 hours of community service, choosing instead to spend 60 days in the House of Correction as punishment. She faces an additional felony charge of battery to a law enforcement officer and is scheduled to go to trial in August.
