Alabama Prison Inmates' Families Allege Missing Organs in Bodies Returned
The family of a second Alabama prison inmate, Brandon Clay Dotson, who died in November, has filed a federal lawsuit alleging that his body was returned with missing organs, including his heart. Another inmate's daughter also claimed that her father's body was missing all internal organs when it was returned in 2021. The lawsuit accuses the Alabama Department of Corrections of mishandling the deceased's body and violating human dignity, while seeking answers about the missing organs. A federal judge held a hearing in the case, but no answers were provided regarding the location of Dotson's heart.
