"Health Scare at Inauguration: Liberia's President Boakai Assisted from Podium"
Liberia's new President Joseph Boakai suffered heat exhaustion during his inauguration speech but has been declared "perfectly fine" by his doctors, according to his office. Concerns about the 79-year-old's health were raised during last year's election campaign, but he narrowly defeated former football star George Weah in a run-off election. Boakai, who had been speaking for around 30 minutes in sweltering conditions, pledged to address economic challenges, corruption, and improve basic services before being helped away from the podium.
