"American Airlines' 2024 Revenue Shift: Loyalty Program Dominance and Premium Cabin Emphasis"
American Airlines projects that 80% of its 2024 revenue will come from loyalty program members and passengers purchasing more expensive tickets, up from 70% in 2017. The airline plans to revamp its fleet with 260 new Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer planes, and retrofit older Airbus planes to expand their first-class cabins. American is also renegotiating credit card agreements to increase revenue and aims to grow pretax margins while reducing its debt load. The carrier declined to provide specific profit or revenue forecasts for the year, and its shares were down more than 4% in afternoon trading.
