"Oregon Icy Weather Closures: Schools, Offices, and Services Shut Down"

Portland State University Reverses Course on Disarming Campus Police and Raises Concerns.

Portland State University has returned guns to its campus police force after disarming them in 2018 due to anti-police protests and riots. Rising crime, an increase in weapons near campus, and lack of support from the Portland Police Bureau were cited as reasons for the policy change. The college now has nine armed patrol officers, seven public safety officers, and eight campus ambassadors. Unarmed patrols will still be used at the officers' discretion and when it's safe.
