Pixelfed, an open-source and decentralized alternative to Instagram, now offers a tool for importing all your Instagram photos. To get started, download all your information from Instagram, sign up for a Pixelfed account, and import the ZIP file containing your Instagram data. Pixelfed serves as a real archive of your Instagram history, completely off of Meta's servers. Additionally, Pixelfed uses the ActivityPub protocol, allowing compatibility with Mastodon accounts, and Instagram's Threads plans to add ActivityPub support in the future. Pixelfed offers a throwback to the earlier days of Instagram, focusing on photos rather than stories and videos.

"Flipboard Adds Bluesky and Pixelfed Integration for Seamless Browsing"
