California Police Rescue Pit Bull Puppy Exposed to Fentanyl

California police administered Narcan, an overdose-reversing drug, to a pit bull puppy after it was exposed to fentanyl in a car and showed signs of an overdose. The owners were arrested on suspicion of felony animal cruelty and possession of narcotics. The puppy was quickly transported to an emergency veterinarian and is now recovering fully. California has seen a spike in opioid-related overdose deaths, and the use of Narcan has been approved for both humans and dogs.

Detroit man arraigned for brutal beating of pit bull puppy over sunglasses.

Lenard Maurice Shaw, a 29-year-old Detroit man, has been accused of beating a blue pit bull puppy unconscious because it chewed his $50 replica Cartier sunglasses. He filmed himself beating the dog and later put it in a garbage can outside his home. The dog survived and Shaw was arrested on charges of second-degree killing/torturing animals and abandoning/cruelty to one animal. He was given a $50,000 cash bond and a probable cause conference is scheduled for March 31.
