Disney Confirms Johnny Depp's Return to 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Franchise.
Disney Studio Motion Picture Production president Sean Bailey hinted that the possibility of a Johnny Depp return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is not off the table, stating that they have a "really good, exciting story" that could honor the previous films while also introducing something new. Depp has been noncommittal about returning. The studio previously announced a spinoff starring Margot Robbie, but it was later scrapped. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that there were two spinoff projects in development, one with Robbie and one with a younger cast.
