SAG-AFTRA Board Seeks Strike Authorization Vote Ahead of Talks.
SAG-AFTRA, the performers' union, will hold a strike authorization vote ahead of June 7 negotiations with major studios. The vote will provide "maximum bargaining leverage" for the talks, according to the union. The vote does not necessarily mean that the union will join the Writers Guild of America on the picket lines after its contract expires on June 30. SAG-AFTRA is looking to address issues such as wage increases, higher streaming residuals, and protections against artificial intelligence. The union represents 160,000 performers.
