Airlines at Fault for Majority of Flight Cancellations, Congressional Report Finds
A recent Congressional report has found that most flight cancellations are caused by factors controlled by airlines, including a lack of flight crews and maintenance issues. The report notes that U.S. airlines took $54 billion from Congress through the Payroll Support Program, but created staffing shortages in the first place. While severe weather and air traffic control outages also contribute to cancellations, the airlines cannot shy away from decisions that put them in their present situation.
