Pamela Smart's Parole Bid Denied by New Hampshire Supreme Court.
Pamela Smart, who is serving a life sentence for plotting with her teenage lover to have her husband killed in 1990, has been denied a hearing for a sentence reduction by New Hampshire's highest court. Smart's attempts to petition for a parole hearing have also been unsuccessful. Her lawyer has called these rejections political and has urged the Executive Council to hold a legitimate review of her rehabilitation and redemption. Smart has earned two master's degrees behind bars, has tutored fellow inmates, has been ordained as a minister, and is part of an inmate liaison committee.
