The American Film Market, a leading indie market, will relocate to Las Vegas' Palms Casino Resort for its 45th edition after a multi-city search and careful consideration of the needs of exhibitors and buyers. The decision aims to better serve the rapidly changing business and provide a sophisticated platform for deal-making, screenings, and industry panels. The venue's amenities and easy travel options were key factors in the decision, with major production, finance, and distribution companies set to participate from November 5 to 10.
Jemarcus Williams, the driver accused of hitting and killing two Nevada State Police officers in a hit-and-run, had ordered a bottle of Hennessy and four vodka drinks at the Palms Casino Resort before the crash. Williams had a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit several hours after the incident. Surveillance footage showed Williams appearing intoxicated and using furniture for balance. He was charged with multiple felony counts and bail was set at $500,000.
