Amazon to Expand Palm Payment Technology to All Whole Foods Stores
Amazon is expanding its palm-scanning payment system, Amazon One, to all Whole Foods stores by the end of the year. The biometric technology allows users to pay for items by placing their palm over a scanning device after connecting it to a stored credit card. Amazon One is already available in over 200 Whole Foods locations and will be rolled out to approximately 500 stores in the coming months. The company has seen "growing demand" for the technology and has also signed deals with other retailers and venues to install its palm-based payment tech and cashierless checkout system.
