"Pakistani Doctor Sentenced to 18 Years in US for Supporting ISIS"
A Pakistani doctor and former Mayo Clinic research coordinator, Muhammad Masood, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group. Masood had expressed interest in carrying out attacks on U.S. soil and had attempted to travel to Syria via Jordan in 2020. He was arrested at the Minneapolis airport before boarding a flight to Los Angeles. Minnesota has been a recruiting ground for terrorist groups, with several individuals from the state joining militant organizations in the past.
