Diablo 4 Launches Without Map Overlay, Fans Divided.

Diablo 4 has gone gold, but there are currently no plans for an overlay map, a fan-favorite feature that makes exploring more convenient. The absence of an overlay map means players will have to adjust to using the minimap or pausing to view the entire map. Blizzard has made a ton of changes to Diablo 4 based on fan feedback from the game's betas, so it's possible they could eventually implement an overlay map if the demand for the feature is strong enough.

Diablo 4 Launches Without Map Overlay, Dividing Fans.

Diablo 4 franchise general manager Rod Fergusson said that there are "no plans" for including an overlay map in the game, which has divided fans. While some applaud the change, others note that Diablo 2 popularized overlay maps in the genre. Blizzard seems unlikely to change its mind on the matter, but it's possible. Diablo 4 will release on June 6, though players with Deluxe or Ultimate editions can play starting June 1.
