"Black Box Recovered from Fatal Osprey Crash in Japan as Investigation Progresses"
Portions of the wreckage from the fatal CV-22 Osprey crash in November have been recovered and returned to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni in Japan. The aircraft, which crashed during a routine training mission off Yakushima, resulted in the death of seven crew members, with one still missing. The recovery operations were extensive, involving over 1,100 personnel, various aircraft, drones, ships, and divers. The crash has led to a temporary grounding of Osprey fleets across the U.S. and Japanese military pending an investigation.
