Law enforcement launches nationwide campaign to curb dangerous speeding
The Minnesota State Patrol has launched Operation Safe Driver, a campaign aimed at cracking down on dangerous driving behaviors. Troopers stationed on an unmarked bus are targeting speed, distraction, and lack of seat belt use. The campaign specifically focuses on commercial vehicles but will stop any driver breaking the law. The state has seen a significant increase in traffic fatalities this summer, with speeding-related deaths up 44% compared to previous years. The troopers have already stopped over 70 vehicles in the first two days of the enforcement detail.
