New York State Police will provide coverage for Syracuse police officers and Onondaga County sheriff’s deputies during the funerals of two officers who were fatally shot, offering assistance with calls, traffic management, and logistical support. About 15,000 people are expected to attend the separate funerals on Saturday and Monday, and residents are encouraged to report non-emergency matters through alternative methods while emergency calls should still be made to 911.
