Half-Life: Alyx now playable without VR hardware thanks to new mod.
The NoVR mod for Half-Life Alyx, which makes the game playable without a VR headset, has been updated to allow the entire game to be played from start to finish. The mod is less demanding than the VR version and has attracted thousands of players. While the mouse-and-keyboard controls work well, some interactions lose their physical immediacy, and certain puzzles are automatically solved. Despite the compromises, the VR-free version of Half-Life Alyx opens up the game's storytelling and environments to a wider audience.
