"2024 Brings a Wave of New California Laws Impacting Schools, Work, Housing, and Traffic Safety"
California has enacted new laws, including stricter concealed firearm restrictions in public places, which had been temporarily blocked by a federal judge but were reinstated by a federal appeals court. Governor Gavin Newsom supports the laws and proposes further gun control amendments to the U.S. Constitution. Other new laws cover a range of issues from consumer protection, criminal justice, education, health care, housing, to workplace regulations. These laws aim to protect consumers from false advertising, establish a pilot program for speeding cameras, expand Medi-Cal, and increase paid sick leave, among other initiatives.
