A woman and a man were shot in a gas station parking lot on Chicago's Near West Side, with the woman sustaining a leg injury and the man in serious condition after being shot multiple times. The shooter, who fired from a dark colored sedan, remains at large as no arrests have been made.

A group of burglars crashed an SUV into a business on the Near West Side in Chicago, stealing merchandise before fleeing the scene in several waiting vehicles. Jerry Reinsdorf, owner of the Chicago Bulls and White Sox, has purchased a vacant property near the United Center for $17.2 million. The property, located on the Near West Side, has development potential and is adjacent to other recent acquisitions made by Reinsdorf-affiliated companies. The purchase adds to Reinsdorf's growing investment in the area, which is expected to see zoning for more residential density in the near future. An off-duty Chicago police officer was grazed in the arm when several people blocked his SUV in an alley on the Near West Side and opened fire. The officer exchanged gunfire before driving off and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition. A gun was recovered, and the Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the incident. The officer will be placed on administrative duties for 30 days, routine after a shooting.

Three bars and restaurants in West Town and the Near West Side were broken into early Tuesday, with Cobra Lounge being robbed after the break-in. The Irish Nobleman and Tuman’s Tap and Grill were also broken into, but nothing was taken. Police are investigating, and no one is in custody. Cobra Lounge has been broken into twice this month, and the general manager called it an unfortunate “cost of doing business” in the area.

A man was killed after being hit by a CTA train on the blue line in the Near West Side stop early Sunday morning. The man was hit by the incoming train near the 400 block of South Damen Avenue around 4:00 a.m. He was severed at the mid-body and was pronounced dead on the scene.
