The Minnesota Wild selected defenseman Aaron Pionk, brother of NHL player Neal Pionk, with the 149th pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Pionk, who has previously been through the draft twice, is 20 years old and has spent his last season with the USHL's Waterloo Blackhawks. He will be attending the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs next season. The Wild also drafted another Minnesota-born player, Charlie Stramel, in their first four picks.
