The Uncertainty of Balloons at the National Balloon Classic
The National Balloon Classic in Indianola attracts crowds eager to see colorful hot air balloons take flight, but the ability to fly is dependent on weather conditions. Wind speeds must be less than 10 knots for the Federal Aviation Administration to allow flights. Unfortunately, the wind didn't die down in time for the scheduled evening flight, leaving the flight crews grounded. Despite the cancellation, attendees could still enjoy live music, food vendors, and kites at the event. Flights are scheduled daily at 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. until August 5th, weather permitting.
