Nathan Donald Pelham, who is charged in connection to the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol, fired shots at law enforcement officers during a standoff at his home in the Dallas area last week. Pelham's father had called law enforcement to report that his son had a gun and was threatening suicide. Pelham now faces a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The standoff lasted until shortly after midnight when law enforcement left without arresting Pelham. He was arrested on Tuesday.

Capitol Riot Defendant Shoots at Law Enforcement Before Surrendering

Nathan Donald Pelham, a man charged with misdemeanors for entering the Capitol on Jan. 6, opened fire on local sheriff's deputies in Texas on the day he was scheduled to surrender to the FBI. He was arrested and charged with an additional count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Pelham could face up to 15 years in prison on the felony gun charge on top of any penalties he may receive for the misdemeanors counts connected to the Capitol attack. This is not the first time a Capitol attacker has tried to go after law enforcement officers or charged with trying to do so.
