WVU Defeats No. 1 Marshall in Soccer Showdown
The No. 5 West Virginia University men's soccer team defeated No. 1 Marshall, 5-2, in the Mountain State Derby, handing Marshall their first loss of the season. West Virginia remains unbeaten and improves to 10-0-4, while Marshall falls to 12-1-0. Sophomore Marcus Caldeira scored a hat trick, becoming the first WVU player to do so since 2014. Senior Sergio Ors Navarro, freshman Constantinos Christou, and senior Luke McCormick also contributed goals in the victory. West Virginia outshot Marshall and had a strong defensive performance in the second half.
