Clarence Avant, known as the 'Godfather of Black Music,' has passed away at the age of 92 in Los Angeles. Avant, a legendary Grammy-winning executive, concert promoter, and manager, played a significant role in the careers of artists such as Bill Withers, Jay-Z, and Whitney Houston. He chaired Motown Records in the 1990s and was described as someone who made the impossible possible. Avant's wife was tragically shot and killed during a home invasion in 2021. His life and legacy were chronicled in the 2019 documentary "The Black Godfather."
