Maryland Middle Schoolers Charged with Hate Crimes for Displaying Swastikas
Three 13-year-old middle schoolers in southern Maryland have been charged with hate crimes after displaying swastikas, performing Nazi salutes, and making derogatory remarks about a classmate’s religion. The harassment began in December and continued despite repeated requests to stop. The students, who attend Plum Point Middle School, are facing charges that will be forwarded to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services. This incident comes amid a reported increase in antisemitic incidents in Maryland and nationwide, prompting strong condemnation from officials.
