Debunking iPhone 15 USB-C Rumors: It's Standard and Disappointing
Contrary to rumors, Apple has indirectly confirmed that the USB-C port in the iPhone 15 models is 100% standard and does not require Apple-certified cables or accessories. The port works fine with all existing USB 3 and USB-PD compliant cables, chargers, and accessories. Apple has updated compatibility tables for existing Mac and iPad USB-C chargers and cables to state that they are also compatible with the iPhone 15. While you'll still need cables with the necessary capabilities for specific features, such as 10Gbps data transfer speeds, you won't need to pay an Apple tax for MFi cables.
