Antioch Mayor and Leaders Demand Action Against Racist Police Texts
Antioch Mayor Lamar Thorpe addressed racist and homophobic text messages exchanged among police officers during a special city council meeting. The messages, which are part of an FBI and district attorney investigation, have not been made public. At least two dozen officers have been accused of engaging in the texts. Thorpe vowed to make changes and not sweep the issue under the rug, while Antioch Police Chief Steven Ford said officers who may have been involved are not currently on patrol.
