Remembering Terence Davies: The Legacy of a Lyrical Filmmaker

Terence Davies, the British filmmaker known for his powerful and lyrical movies inspired by his childhood in postwar Liverpool, has passed away at the age of 77. Raised in a working-class family, Davies made his feature debut with "Distant Voices, Still Lives" in 1988, followed by "The Long Day Closes" in 1992. His autobiographical films opened doors to bigger budgets and more mainstream projects, while still maintaining his distinctive lyricism. Davies' final film, "Benediction," was based on the life of poet Siegfried Sassoon.
