CMT Faces Backlash for Pulling Jason Aldean's Controversial Music Video
Country Music Television (CMT) has pulled Jason Aldean's music video for "Try That In A Small Town" after receiving backlash over its setting and lyrics. The video was filmed at the site of a 1946 race riot and a 1927 lynching of a Black teenager. Critics have accused the video of being a "dog whistle" and "pro-lynching." Aldean defended the video, stating that it does not reference race and uses real news footage. The production company clarified that Aldean did not choose the location. Aldean has faced controversy in the past, including a Halloween costume with blackface and conflicting statements on gun laws. Conservative figures have spoken out in support of Aldean, while CMT has not commented on the situation.
