Bear Attacks: A Deadly Reminder of the Dangers in Bear Country
A black bear in Lunenburg County, Virginia, will be euthanized after it injured a woman who was walking her dog off-leash. The bear emerged from the woods with the dog, and when the woman tried to warn it, the bear stood on its hind legs and approached her, eventually "nibbling" her. The woman fought back and pretended to be dead when the bear chased her dog. She called for help and was airlifted to the hospital in stable condition. The dog was found unharmed at a neighbor's home. The bear will be tested for rabies before being euthanized.
