Zelda Producer Dismisses Linear Games as "Games of the Past"

He emphasizes the success of the more recent open-world entries, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, which offer players freedom and flexibility in gameplay. Aonuma acknowledges the desire for nostalgia but questions why players would want to go back to more limited gameplay. The latest installment, Tears of the Kingdom, has become the fastest-selling game in the series, selling 19.5 million copies as of September.
