"Jay-Z Library Cards Boost Brooklyn Public Library Memberships and Collector's Craze"
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, the Brooklyn Public Library and Roc Nation have released limited-edition library cards featuring artwork from Jay-Z albums. This initiative has resulted in 14,000 new library accounts so far. The cards are tied to a Brooklyn Central Library exhibit exploring Jay-Z's career, and they are available for free to New York State residents. While some are trying to sell the cards online, they represent only a small fraction of the thousands who have signed up. Other New York City library systems and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority have also released hip-hop-themed cards to commemorate the anniversary.
