Protesters Rally for Ceasefire in Gaza and End to US Funding
At least 100 demonstrators gathered on Liberty Island in New York, calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. The group held signs advocating for a ceasefire and Palestinian freedom near the Statue of Liberty. After about 30 minutes, they were escorted off the island onto boats by federal parks representatives. No arrests were made. This protest follows other demonstrations in New York City, including pro-Palestinian rallies and a candlelight vigil for Israel and the hostages taken by Hamas.
