Boat Explosions Leave Multiple Injuries at Lake Rathbun and Thomas Pond
Five people were injured on Lake Rathbun in Iowa when a boat motor exploded while starting up. A woman was flown to the University of Iowa Hospitals with moderate to severe burns, while a man and three children were taken to a Centerville hospital with minor burns. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources encourages boaters to prioritize safety measures such as wearing life jackets, having a designated sober operator, and keeping a fire extinguisher on board.
