Tragic Murder of Nebraska Priest Reveals Disturbing Break-In
The Archdiocese of Omaha has provided more details about the life and pastoral history of Father Stephen Gutgsell, the priest who was stabbed to death in the rectory of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun. Father Gutgsell, who had served as a priest for 39 years, was born in Kansas City and had ministered at various churches throughout Nebraska. The suspect, Kierre Williams, was arrested and is facing homicide charges. Authorities have clarified that the priest's death is not related to a criminal incident he was involved in 16 years ago.
