Director Jon M. Chu Bringing 'Crazy Rich Asians' to Broadway as Musical
Director Jon M. Chu is developing "Crazy Rich Asians" into a Broadway musical, marking his Broadway debut. The musical, based on Kevin Kwan's book and the 2018 film, will feature a book by Leah Nanako Winkler, music by Helen Park, and lyrics by Amanda Green and Tat Tong. The story follows a Chinese American professor who discovers her boyfriend's wealthy family in Singapore. The musical adaptation is backed by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and is part of a trend of popular films being turned into live musicals.
