Apple has agreed to settle a lawsuit alleging that the company allowed scammers to exploit its iTunes and App Store gift cards, retaining a portion of the stolen funds for itself. The settlement terms are being finalized for presentation to a U.S. District Judge. The scam involved tricking victims into purchasing gift cards to pay for various false debts and sharing the card codes with the scammers. Apple is accused of depositing 70% of these funds into the fraudsters' accounts while keeping a 30% commission. The lawsuit represents U.S. customers who fell victim to this scam from 2015 to 2020 and did not receive refunds from Apple.
