BlackBerry has named John Giamatteo, the head of its cybersecurity unit, as its new CEO and abandoned its plan to spin off its Internet of Things (IoT) business through an IPO. The decision to keep the IoT and cybersecurity divisions together comes after a reassessment of the initial plan. The company will also streamline its corporate functions to allow each business unit to operate independently and profitably. Giamatteo's appointment is effective immediately, succeeding John Chen, who retired in November.
