Massive Drug Bust: Ecuador Police Seize 14 Tons Destined for U.S., Central America, and Europe
Ecuadorian police conducted over 40 raids across the country, resulting in the arrest of 28 individuals and the seizure of nearly 14 tons of drugs destined for the U.S., Central America, and Europe. The operation, which involved collaboration with Mexico, Colombia, and the United States, also led to the confiscation of firearms, ammunition, cash, and cellphones. Criminal gangs in Ecuador, with links to international criminal groups such as Mexico's Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, are involved in drug trafficking. Ecuador's strategic location between Colombia and Peru, the world's largest cocaine manufacturers, has made it a drug exporter.
