Beagle Breeder Fined $35M for Animal Neglect
Envigo RMS and its parent company Inotiv have pleaded guilty to neglecting thousands of beagles bred for medical research, resulting in a record $35 million fine. The plea deal, which includes a ban on breeding or selling dogs, follows a federal investigation that revealed severe animal welfare violations at their Virginia facility. The company must also pay for environmental repairs and compliance monitoring, while individual employee prosecutions remain possible.
