Hegedorn's Market in Webster to permanently close after 70 years.
Hegedorn's Market, a family-owned grocery store in Webster, New York, will permanently close in June after 70 years in business due to a difficult market for independent grocers. The store, which started as a 2,000-square-foot market in 1953, has expanded to 45,000 square feet and employs approximately 120 people. The Hegedorn family also owns roughly two dozen local restaurants, and the closure will not impact any of them. The store's footprint will be available for new ideas, but nothing has been planned yet.
