The historic building in lower Manhattan that once housed the famous cheese shop Alleva Dairy partially collapsed during an illegal renovation, with bricks falling from one side and leaving a hole in the four-story structure. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the building was found to be undergoing unpermitted renovation work.
