Wildfire Devastates Historic California Gold Rush Town of Chinese Camp
A series of 22 wildfires sparked by lightning strikes in Northern California have burned over 12,473 acres, destroying parts of historic Gold Rush towns like Chinese Camp and Vallecito, with evacuations in place and ongoing efforts to contain the fires, which are burning in remote areas.
