Consumers are advised to stop using the affected dehumidifiers and contact Gree for a refund. This is not the first recall for Gree-manufactured dehumidifiers, with a previous recall in 2013 resulting in over 2,000 overheating incidents, 450 fires, and four deaths. In 2021, Gree and its subsidiary agreed to pay $91 million for failing to disclose fire risks, and Gree USA was fined $500,000 in April 2022.
