False Reports of Active Shooter and Bomb Threats at Michigan Malls
Reports of an active shooter at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills, Michigan, were confirmed to be false. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported. The incident occurred when a group of juveniles started fighting, and an officer deployed their taser to subdue a combative person. An unknown person yelled "Shots fired," causing people in the mall to run outside and away from the mall. Police said social media and 911 calls were inundated with reports of an active shooter inside the mall. The entire mall was searched by law enforcement officers, and two individuals were secured in handcuffs.
