Lawyer Steven Schwartz is facing further trouble after using ChatGPT to research a brief for his client, leading to the reference of completely made-up court cases. Schwartz and his associate Peter LoDuca appeared before a Manhattan judge, who questioned the authenticity of the AI-generated case citations. Schwartz claimed he was "duped" by ChatGPT and that the incident has been "deeply embarrassing."
