Second Elk Attack in Estes Park Injures Young Child
A 4-year-old boy was attacked by a cow elk at a playground in Estes Park, marking the second such incident in days. The boy was treated and released from the hospital. The attacks are linked to elk calving season, during which cow elk can become aggressive to protect their hidden calves. The playground and parts of a nearby trail are closed, and warning signs have been posted.
