South Korea Bans Dog Meat Consumption

South Korea plans to ban the consumption of dog meat by 2027, aiming to end the age-old practice and address growing concerns over animal protections. The government and ruling party have agreed to introduce legislation before the end of the year, which would prohibit the breeding of dogs for slaughter and the sale of dog meat. A three-year grace period and financial support for businesses transitioning out of the trade will be provided.
